Poxet: Description
Poxet
Poxet is a drug used mainly for treating premature ejaculation (PE) in adult males between the ages of 18 and 64 years. Being a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), Poxet functions by enhancing the amount of serotonin in the brain, which allows ejaculation to be delayed.

 How does it work?
- Â Poxet is a type of drug known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
- It raises the level of serotonin in the nervous system, thereby delaying ejaculation and enhancing ejaculation control.
Poxet’s action is believed to be associated with the inhibition of neuronal reuptake of serotonin and then potentiation of serotonin activity. Poxet, by elevating levels of serotonin in the brain, retards ejaculation and enhances ejaculatory latency control.
 Ejaculatory Latency Control
Poxet dapoxetine increases ejaculatory latency control for premature ejaculation by raising the intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT). Research has indicated that dapoxetine can:
- Lengthen IELT: Dapoxetine has been found to prolong IELT by 3-4 times over placebo, with excellent improvements in ejaculatory control and sexual satisfaction.
- Enhance Ejaculatory Control: Men who received dapoxetine reported better control over ejaculation, with 51.8% of men who received 30mg and 58.4% of men who received 60mg finding their control to be “fair to very good”.
- Boost Sexual Satisfaction: Dapoxetine has also been indicated to enhance sexual satisfaction, with nearly twice the number of men who rated their satisfaction as “good to very good” as compared to placebo.
 Benefits of taking Poxet medication
- Â Increased Ejaculation Time: Poxet makes it easier for men to last longer during sex, lowering frustration and anxiety issues due to premature ejaculation.
- Improved Control: Delaying ejaculation, Poxet allows men to have more control over their ejaculation, increasing their sexual pleasure.
Â
Dosage
- Recommended Dosage: The dose should start at 30 mg, swallowed 1 to 3 hours prior to sex.
- Maximum Dosage: Dose may be raised to 90 mg if the response is inadequate and side effects are tolerated.
- Frequency: Not greater than one dose in any 24-hour period.
Â
   Dosage |     30 mg |   60 mg |   90 mg |
Duration of Action | 1-3 hours | Â 1-3 hours | Â 1-3 hours |
Prescribed for | Men with lower tolerance to medication | Men who require stronger effect or have higher tolerance to the medication | Usually we prefer 60 mg dose as a higher but after consulting a doctor can go for this dosage |
Â
For different strength of Poxet
- Poxet 30 mg: Starting dose of Poxet dapoxetine is 30 mg, that can be taken within 60 mins to 180 mins before sexual activity.
- Poxet 60 mg: If a male is with higher tolerance to the medications, and also requires stronger effects then 60 mg dose can be preferable.
- Poxet 90 mg: A dose of 90 mg is not a recommended dosage for Poxet dapoxetine, generally we prefer 60 mg dose as a higher but after consulting a doctor can go for this dose.
 Interaction
Poxet (dapoxetine) may interact with other drugs, impacting the drug’s effectiveness or the risk of side effects.
- Serotonergic drugs: Poxet taken with other serotonergic drugs, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), can elevate the risk of serotonin syndrome.
- Â PDE5 inhibitors: While Poxet does not have PDE5 inhibitors, co-administration of Poxet with PDE5 inhibitors can enhance the risk of orthostatic hypotension.
- CYP2D6 or CYP3A4 inhibitors: Poxet is metabolized by liver enzymes CYP2D6 and CYP3A4. Concomitant administration of drugs that inhibit these enzymes can lead to increased body concentrations of Poxet and potentially enhance the risk of side effects.
- Â Other drugs: Poxet can interact with other drugs, including thioridazine, and make it more likely to have side effects.
To reduce the risk of interactions, it’s important to:
- Inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
- Â Use Poxet as prescribed by your physician, and never alter your dose without consulting your physician.
- Being sensitive to the possible interactions and making efforts to reduce them, you are able to use Poxet safely and effectively to cure premature ejaculation.
 Side Effects
The usual side effects of Poxet areÂ
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Somnolence
- Tremor
- Blurred vision
- Tinnitus
- Â Sinus congestion
- Â Nausea
- Â Diarrhea
- Â Abdominal pain
- Dry mouth
- Â Fatigue
- Insomnia
- Hypertension
 Efficacy and Safety
Clinical trials have established the safety and effectiveness of Poxet in the treatment of premature ejaculation. Trials have proved that Poxet greatly elevates intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT) and enhances ejaculation control, minimizing interpersonal difficulty and personal distress.
Precautions
- Cardiac Conditions: Poxet should not be prescribed for patients with severe heart disease, including heart failure or conduction disorders.
- MAOIs and Other Medications: Poxet is contraindicated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), thioridazine, or other serotonergic drugs.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Poxet should not be used in women, and its safety in pregnancy and lactation is unknown.Â
  Conclusion
Poxet (dapoxetine) is a drug that provides a new solution for premature ejaculation. By raising levels of serotonin in the brain, Poxet postpones ejaculation and enhances ejaculatory latency control. Though it can cause side effects and interact with other drugs, Poxet was found to be effective and safe in clinical trials.
