How does the Livarise Injector pen work?
Livarise injector pen consists of Semaglutide. Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It acts similarly to the body’s natural GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) hormone, which is released after meals to regulate blood sugar levels and appetite. It also slows down digestion so the food stays in the body for a little longer. It decreases appetite and food intake.
Directions for use
- Wash your hands thoroughly. Select the site of injection and rotate it each week.
- Wipe the skin with an alcohol swab and let it dry completely.
- Remove the protective cap from the pen and screw a sterile pen needle into the pen.
- Prime the pen and dial your prescribed dose as instructed by the healthcare provider.
- Inject the needle straight under the skin at a 90 degree angle. Push the injection button in the skin.
- Carefully remove the needle and replace the pen cap.

- Antibiotics and antimalarial drugs
Certain antibiotics and antimalarial drugs like clarithromycin, hydroxychloroquine can compound stomach side effects or alter blood sugar.
- Loop Diuretics
Loop diuretics like furosemide, torsemide when taken with semaglutide may increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
- Insulin and sulfonylureas
Concomitant use of insulin and sulfonylureas along with semaglutide can increase the risk of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels).
