Pexep 40 Tablet

Pexep 40 is an antidepressant that is used in the treatment of various mental health conditions like OCD, depression, panic disorder, premature ejaculation, etc. The medication is better taken in the morning with food to avoid issues such as upset stomach. The dose and duration of treatment depends on the severity of your condition and is usually determined by the physician.

MECHANISM OF ACTION 

Paroxetine blocks the serotonin transporter which stops the nerve cells from reabsorbing serotonin. This action leaves more active serotonin in the synaptic cleft to improve mood and decrease anxiety. Due to increased serotonin levels there is an increased neurological threshold that is required for ejaculation.

DOSAGE 

In case of a missed dose, take the medication as soon as you remember in case you miss a dose. If it is time for your next missed dose, skip the missed dose. INTERACTIONS 

• Pexep 40 inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and when this is combined with serotonin agonists like Busiprone, it may cause serotonin syndrome. 
• Pexep 40 may inhibit the metabolism of Haloperidol and may cause extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS). 
• Pexep 40 when combined with Tramadol may cause serotonin syndrome. 
• Pexep 40 when combined with anticoagulants like warfarin or heparin can increase the risk of bleeding. 
• It can also react with Linezolid that is used to manage skin infections. 
• Pexep 40 has been reported to cause mania or hypertension when combined with selegiline; so it is best to avoid this combination. 
• Cimetidine may reduce the first-pass metabolism of Pexep 40 resulting in elevated paroxetine serum levels. 

PRECAUTIONS & WARNINGS 

• Taper off the medication slowly to avoid severe withdrawal symptoms like dizziness, electric-shock sensations, etc. 
• Refrain from driving until you know how the medication affects you. 
• Do not chew, break or crush the tablets. 
• Use with extreme caution if using medications like anticoagulants, NSAID painkillers. 
• Avoid use during early pregnancy or breastfeeding to prevent the harm to the fetus. 
• Avoid taking less or more than the recommended dose. 
• Use with caution if you have a history of seizures as it may worsen your condition. 
• Pexep 40 should not be in children or adolescents under the age of 18.

Pexep 40 consists of Paroxetine, a SSRI.
